Nomination
It was a big surprise to receive a letter stated that I was nomination for the best lecturer of the year 2011. Finally I received a silver medal for the second best lecturer at the faculty of architecture from the Technical University Delft for the year 2011. I was nominated by the students something that gives me proud and wonderful feeling.

November this year I was invited to give a lecture on sustainability at the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy at Sofia, Bulgaria. Although the picture is a little vague it shows the lecture room and the attending students. It has given me a warm feeling to notice the broad interest on this subject.

Congratulations on the inaugural speech on the 5th of March 2010 for my new professor at the Technical University Delft. It is a great privilege to work with him in the chair Climate Design and Sustainability of the Faculty of Architecture. Now the world is struggling with enormous problems as global warming, financial crises, the urgent need for new energy concepts and new ideas about designing healthy indoor environments, I find myself in the middle of this challenging revolution. Both my preference for integrated design and the exchange of science and codes of practice are an important tool hereby and crucial elements.

Seminar 2010 at Corpus Leiden

These pictures show my participation in a lecture and forum discussion about the healthy indoor environment in school buildings. Another well known participant was Prof. David P. Wyon form the Technical University of Denmark. The major objective of the discussion was the awareness of changing the former architecture with high ceiling classrooms into lower ones, without comprimsing the health of the indoor climate. The knowledge to have an optimal climate design based on new sustainable principles has finally been accepted by the politics. Now the regulations and funding has to follow. More of these seminars are necessary to guide this new revolution in the field of education!

I was one of the guest speakers. PTG is one of the leading building management consulting firms in the Netherlands. Their field is health care in a wide field, from university hospitals to nursing/retirement homes and special treatment and care facilities in wich the organisation of the particular institution forms the startingpoint for PTG's consultancy.

During the Closing Conference on the subject; Improving Engineering Consultancy Sector in Ankara Turkey. Three Senior Consultants, from left to the right Jos van Veen Royal Haskoning, Leo de Ruijsscher De Blaay- Van den Bogaard Raadgevende Ingenieurs en Fred Schelleman from Grontmij, are giving their reviews on the earlier performances during the year. At the back the wife of the ONRI director Paul Oortwijn is situated. Part of the results is the friendship between the Dutch ONRI and there Turkish sister ATCEA.

At the end of February the trainings, workshops and seminar have been held in the capital of Turkey Ankara. It was very refreshing to participate in these events and to receive the enthusiastic replay on the seminar from the audience. Also the involvement in the trainings and workshops created added value and the debates held were democratic and larded with humor. A contribution wich finally resulted into a warm teamwork between the ONRI, the members of ATCE and the broad audience existed out of civil authorities, architects, consultants and various institutes whereby Universities were involved ad well.

December 2008, the preparation of training and seminars for the coming year has been started. The European committee has asked the ONRI to assist there sister organisation ATCEA to promote the use of private consultancy. Therefore training on the policy to use private consultants and seminars in research and development are required. The photograph shows a part of the delegation from Holland and the colleagues from Turkey at the head office of ATCEA at Ankara.

13th of May 2008 a black day, the faculty of architecture at the Technical University Delft burned down. I could not imagine the impact it would have on my work with the students at that time. Now I found locations to give lectures and exercises in many different faculties. Sometimes, it is wonderful to be a guest in the faculty of aviation, civil engineering or the building for examinations. But in many cases we (lecturers and students) have to use all our creativity to transfer knowledge and find new ways. But overall we are grateful that we can make a contribution to our society.

During a reception at the office of STUDIO ACHT architects Gerald de Jong give his remarkable presentation called DARWIN AT HOME. It is all about computer modelling showing that evolving on structures in a space of vitural reality. Also a link to the architecture was briefly discussed. In coherence with the computerised way of designing byour famous architect Kas Oosterhuis it will be the future!

Recently the 28th of June i was invited as a guest speaker for the RotaryClub at Capelle aan den IJssel. For me it was a great success to find a group of enthusiastic people who i like to participate in the philosophy of our world and the perception of our indoor climate. For reference see the attached minutes of meeting by the secretary of the RotaryClub Click here
